This album features a series of images, of a TELESCOPE MK60 produced by/for the Naval Gun Factory W.N.Y for the U.S.NAVY BUR OF ORD in 1941.
It weighs 75 lbs and has a shipping weight of 110 lbs in its box.
It's paperwork indicates #3037 it was Inspected and packed 19 Jan 1944.
This MK60 is Serial number 3037 and is currently in a private collection.
Our one big clue was a second tag in the bottom of the crate for M60 SN. 2082 indicating it was from the USS BENNINGTON (CV-20) Essex Class Aircraft Carrier.
J.L.Pires the historian for the USS Bennington Association thinks this is from the fire director for a 5" gun, He contributed a link to a picture of a MK-14 he thinks these optics may be mounted in.
Many thanks to the guys on the THE-CAS.ORG mailing list for the following link to GENE SLOVERS US NAVY PAGES
Chapter 25 covering Linear-rate antiaircraft fire control systems has a line drawing showing how the gearing worked in Section 25B13.
